The biggest ongoing problem Web comics continues to face is how to harness the casual Web-browsing audience into a reliable source of income. Even still they span a good range of genres from sword and sorcery to hard Scifi to horror to crime to espionage to contemporary action thrillers to mysteries to a comic about cooking! Mundane Science-Fiction - Unlike most sci-fi stories, these are not set in other galaxies but instead are restricted within the boundaries of our own solar system, often completely based on Earth. Schwarz emphasizes that graphic texts can, in unique ways, implement critical literacy in the classroom: “literacy that affirms diversity, gives voice to all, and helps students examine ideas and practices that promulgate inequity” (2006, p. 62). But all that isn’t enough to overcome some of the deep flaws in this series.
